Timothy J. Schutz

Mr. Schutz was admitted to practice before all courts in the State of Colorado in 1987. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, District of Colorado; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Schutz received his degree in psychology from Moorhead State University (B.A., 1984). Thereafter, he graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law (J.D., with honors, 1987). During his tenure at UND, Mr. Schutz served as Editor in Chief of North Dakota Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif.

An active member of the local and state bar associations, Mr. Schutz served as the President of the El Paso County Bar Association in 2004. He also served as the President of the El Paso County bar Foundation in 2006 and 2007. In 2007, he was awarded the Founders Award by the Bar Foundation in recognition of his years of service to the Foundation. In July of 2007, Mr. Schutz was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Colorado Legal Aid Foundation. He has been a leading proponent of the provisions of pro bono legal services.

Mr. Schutz has extensive experience in litigation of commercial, real estate, and intellectual property disputes. He has tried numerous cases in Colorado’s state and federal courts, and has frequently appeared before local boards to address land use matters. Mr. Schutz also represents a number of Colorado Special Districts Mr. Schutz also has received formal mediation training, and has been involved in all aspects of alternative dispute resolution, both as an advocate and as a third party neutral.
