Mr. Hanes was admitted to practice before all courts in the State of Colorado in 1959. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Hanes is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Hanes received his degree in electrical engineering from the Colorado College and Purdue University (B.S.E.E. 1953). Thereafter, he graduated from George Washington University with an LL.B. degree.
Mr. Hanes is a member of the El Paso County, Colorado and American Bar association. He is also certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Mr. Hanes is one of our senior most attorneys and the co-founder of the law firm of Hanes & Schutz LLC. He has more than 40 yrs of experience in the field of Intellectual Property. After service in the United States Air Force as an airborne electronics officer, Richard worked as an engineer for Melpar Inc. in design and production of electronic flight simulators for the Air Force and the Navy. Following that employment, he worked as patent examiner for the United States Patent and Trademarks Office in Washington D.C. in the color television art.
Mr. Hanes’s has an extensive experience in litigation in state and federal courts and intellectual property law. The latter includes the preparation and prosecution of U.S. patent applications in variety of arts, trademark registrations, and litigation of infringement issues in these areas. |
